The Adventure Travel Company is one an adventure tour operators, who offer small group adventures to over 120 countries worldwide.
Founded in 1996, the company originally traded under the name Travelbag Adventures. It was set up by three directors; Mark Wright, Brian Wood and David Williams with the aim to offer ‘off the beaten track’ travel experiences and a taste of local life.
Activities included in their itineraries normally include escorted cultural tours, polar expeditions, safaris, and activity holidays, including trekking and hiking, dog sledding, rafting and kayaking.
There are also separate tours for families looking for adventure, offering specialist itineraries for children as young as two, and trek adventure tours for teenagers.
In 2003, the company changed its name to The Adventure Company and was acquired by First Choice in 2004.
In September 2007, First Choice merged with the tourism division of TUI AG, and The Adventure Company became part of the TUI Travel PLC group.
The UK Press have recently taken note of the company, and have begun to discuss in particular, the unique family adventures people are choosing to join.
Fans of the company also like to chat with the active staff on the companies website forum, and particularly enjoy posting clips, pictures and discussing their latest adventures on The Adventure Company Facebook page.
